Hereford Cathedral School is one of the oldest and most prestigious schools in the United Kingdom. There has been teaching and learning here since the 7thcentury. Located in the beautiful city of Hereford, which is set in rich English countryside, the school is a thriving and successful co-educational institution for pupils aged 3 to 18.The School is located at the heart of the city, situated in and around the Cathedral Close and medieval Cloisters. Though the school has an ancient academic tradition, it is not old-fashioned. It has wonderful brand new facilities including state-of- the-art science laboratories and sports hall. A unique energy and spirit prevails where expectations are high and pupils excel. Small class sizes, specialist teaching staff and strong pastoral care ensure that academic standards and examination results are excellent. The majority of sixth form students go on to study at Russell Group Universities, with some 8% going on to either Oxford or Cambridge.

Academic achievements At A Level over half of all grades achieved (59.5%) were either A* or A, and over three quarters of all grades achieved (79%) were at least a B or above. The benchmark grades of A*-B, as used by the most competitive universities, were achieved by more than half our students in all their subjects, and 28 students (out of 67) gained all A* or A grades. An impressive 25.7% of all grades were at the new A* level
University destinations Majority of students go on to study at Russell Group Universities, with some 8% going on to study at Oxford and Cambridge. An impressive 90% of students achieve a place at their first choice university.

Educational Courses Covered

Hereford Cathedral School offers a flexible curriculum with great choice. Thier 25 A Level subjects are largely in the traditional fields sought by the countries leading universities and thier students are encouraged to choose any combination of subjects.

The majority of students select four subjects at AS Level in the Lower Sixth and continue with three of these in the Upper Sixth. The school’s results are excellent and consistently the best in Herefordshire.
